Columbia catcher Bob Miller was sensational. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Washington beat the River Rats, 7-5. Miller was named the player of the game despite the loss. Earning his 1st save for Washington was Tyrone Marone. Washington, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With one out, Pedro Villarreal hit a 1-1 fastball from Jim Unknown for a 2-run double. It put Washington in front, 6-4.
