Hotspur U-21 Take Tight Tilt
|
The Phoenix Hotspur U-21 topped the Niagara Falls Expos, 4-3, in USSL Single A action at Hotspur Kiddie Complex. The player of the game was Phoenix pitcher and Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic native José Santiago. Niagara Falls, at 37-54, has lost 4 straight.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Hotspur U-21 sent teenager Corey Ferguson to the plate against Expos hurler Javier Matajudíos. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a first pitch cutter to score 2.
"Getting the win feels pretty nice," said Santiago. "More importantly, I had a good game."
