In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Grim catcher Guillermo Mata was instrumental in his team's 7-6 win over the Phoenix Hotspur U-21. Mata, who is tied for 3rd in the SA with a .392 on-base percentage, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Reapers. Grim reliever Cecil Beijeman picked up the win to move to 7-2. Cameron Roberts suffered the loss.
Marcos Martínez provided some late-game heroics for Grim. In the top of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 1-2 changeup from Cameron Roberts and propelled Grim to a 7-6 lead.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager .
Grim has now won 3 straight, while the Hotspur U-21 have lost 3 in a row.
