The Louisiana Dragoons thumped the Syracuse Storm, 8-2, at Storm Park. José Ortíz was a big reason his team got the win. Ortíz went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Nathan Moree got credit for the win, improving to 3-5. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 7.1 innings. The second-place Dragoons now have a 4-game winning streak.
In the top of the fifth, Louisiana designated hitter Giuseppe Provolone had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and two outs, Provolone stroked a run-scoring triple to right-center. It made the score 2-0, Louisiana. For the game, he went 1 for 5 with a triple.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Louisiana manager Steve Hawkins.
