In a close game at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, the Louisiana Dragoons edged the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, 5-4. Louisiana second baseman Armond Merlin earned the nod as player of the game after he was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The Louisiana Dragoons have an impressive 30-18 record.
Louisiana took a 4-3 lead on Armando Carmona's 15th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Carmona hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Phoenix pitcher Alberto Solís shaking his head.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Carmona told the Louisiana News.
