"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Addison.

The Louisiana Dragoons topped the Mt. Vernon Bulls, 5-1, in USSL Single A action at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon. The player of the game was Louisiana pitcher Paul Addison. The winning pitcher was Addison, now 2-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5.

Armando Carmona's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant, coming with the bases loaded and the game tied, 1-1. The Louisiana second baseman hit a 2-run double off Jorge Chávez to put the Dragoons up.

"We've got a great group of guys," Carmona said, "and we're having fun right now."

The first-place Dragoons have a one-game lead in their division.
