Grim second baseman Tomás Costello was sensational. He went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Mancelona beat the Reapers, 7-6. Costello was named the player of the game despite the loss. Mancelona reliever Arturo Guerrero picked up the win to move to 2-1. Pedro Adame suffered the loss. Tony Ruíz closed it out for his 1st save.

José Córdova was a key contributor to the win for the Torch. In the bottom of the fifth with one out, the light-hitting shortstop stroked a single to right. He was 2 for 5 with 2 singles.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Córdova, "but we got it done."

The Torch, now 26-11, have won 5 in a row.
