Stingers Take Tight Tilt
|
The Toledo Stingers did just enough to sneak past the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 3-1, at Great Northern Field. Toledo pitcher Víctor García earned player of the game honors. Brandeis Vogt picked up the save, his 1st. Losses have been rare for the Northern Lions BC, who are now 6-1.
The Stingers got a big at-bat from Alfredo Martínez. For the game, Martínez went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Toledo a 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," García told reporters after the game.
