The Ft. Worth Cattlemen did just enough to sneak past the Grafton Middies, 7-3, at The Cattle Pen. Ft. Worth pitcher Nicholas Wells earned player of the game honors. Wells picked up the win for Ft. Worth, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Earning his 1st save of the year was Asher Spivey.
One impactful at-bat came in the bottom of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Enrique Marroquín, hit a 2-run single. It made the score 4-2, Ft. Worth, and helped them go on to win.
"We're a pretty talented bunch when we're playing well," said Wells. "I think we showed that here."
The Cattlemen raised their record to 2-3.
