The Highwood Hawks eeked out a 7-4 win versus the Provo Mango at Hawks Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Arturio Sandolva, who captured player of the game honors. Sandolva, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 10, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Sam Schultz earned the save, his 11th.
Johnny Henshaw-Jacobs was a key contributor to the win for the Hawks. In the bottom of the second with two out, the light-hitting catcher stroked a single to center. He was 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Sandolva.
Highwood goes to 51-25. The win puts them 3½ games up in their division.
