Guzzlers Suffer 6-1 Setback
|
Galesburg had no answer for Belleville Bulls starter Nelson Cuevas, who flummoxed Guzzlers hitters as the Bulls cruised to a 6-1 victory. Cuevas got the win, improving to 7-7. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. Cuevas allowed no earned runs. Belleville's record now stands at 29-45, placing them 11th in the Menard's A.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fourth inning when the Bulls sent teenager Ron Bernard to the plate against Guzzlers hurler Rafael Torrez. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a first pitch fastball to score 3.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Bernard told a Belleville Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
