Delaware Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss
|
Pitcher Olivier Carlier was sensational for the Grand Forks Caterpillars in his team's 4-0 triumph over the Delaware 1787 BC. Carlier received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. The winning pitcher was Carlier, now 6-4. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. The 7th-place Caterpillars improved to 29-33.
Tied up with the 1787 BC in the top of the fourth, the Caterpillars got a boost from first baseman Carlos Romero. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Romero saw a 0-1 cutter from Masami Kogawa and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Grand Forks on top, 1-0.
"Olivier was throwing strikes, locating well," said Grand Forks manager Curtis Lee.
