Herons Walk It Off for 26th Win of Season
|
The Herons had to overcome a good performance from Highwood pitcher Stanley Eldrige to claim a 2-1 win at The Heron Refuge. Eldrige went 8 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Hammond reliever Kris Ross, now 4-1. The loser was Mike Keys. Hammond now sits at 26-20, while Highwood falls to 31-15.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th. That's when Hammond catcher Rubén Aracil, facing Mike Keys, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Herons the 2-1 win.
"This place sure got loud," said Ricardo Martínez, the Hammond manager.
