|
The inspired effort of Provo third baseman Takechi Okubo was not enough to prevent a 5-3 loss to the Bellevue Bruins. Okubo was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. Bellevue reliever Carlos Ortíz picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Ma Hon Keung was saddled with the loss. The Mango, at 15-21, have lost 5 in a row.
Loren Stallings came through for Bellevue when he hit a 2-run single in the top of the seventh. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a first pitch fastball to right field, staking his team to a 4-2 lead.
In comments to the Bellevue Observer, Stallings insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
