Guzzlers Knock Off Hammond at Galesburg Field
|
Galesburg right fielder Shahid Afridi played a vital role in his team's 6-4 triumph over Hammond. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Galesburg. Galesburg reliever Song-saeng Kim picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ernest Hawks took the loss. Earning his 9th save of the year was Geoff Stackhouse.
Afridi came through with some timely hitting for Galesburg. With the score 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth and two down, Afridi hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was his 24th hit of the season -- and a big reason the Guzzlers managed to win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Afridi.
The Guzzlers raised their record to 12-12.
