5 Straight Wins for Loons
The Minnesota Loons beat the Yakima Hops, 11-5, at Hops Park. The Loons got a fine performance from right fielder Michael Malloy, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Rust Cohle picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 6-5. The save went to José Larranaga, his 3rd this season.

Ted Striker drove in 2 runs for Minnesota. In the top of the third, with the teams deadlocked, 1-1, Striker delivered for the Loons. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Minnesota on top, 2-1.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Malloy told the Minnesota Daily.
