Berneu Hits 2 home runs in Lionhearts Win
|
Lannister United played host to Yakima at the friendly confines of Lionheart Field.
The Lannister United Lionhearts thumped the Yakima Hops, 8-1, at Lionheart Field. Anselmo Berneu was a big reason his team got the win. Berneu hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Carlos Díaz picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 11-4. José Montalópez picked up the save for Lannister United, his 6th of the year.
With Lannister United leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Berneu hit a fastball from Emílio Mavarro for a 2-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Lionhearts ahead, 3-0.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Jamie Randall.
The third-place Lionhearts raised their record to 48-42.
