Screaming Eagles Jolt Misfits with Late Rally

Mercer Island beat Salem at Ricochets Ballpark, escaping with a 8-4 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Marcos Reyes, who earned player of the game honors. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Mercer Island goes to 49-37. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.
Leonardo Ramírez's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Sean LeBlanc for a run-scoring single. It put Mercer Island in front, 5-4.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Ramírez told the Mercer Island Observer. "It's as simple as that."
