Loons Bump Off Highlanders, 7-4
|
Minnesota beat Asheville at Loony Bin, escaping with a 7-4 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman David Martínez, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Juan Deliz got credit for the save for Minnesota. It was his 2nd of the year. The Loons raised their record to 38-41.
Minnesota took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Gilberto Rodríguez hit a 2-run single to make it 6-4, Loons.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Martínez told the Minnesota Daily.
