Loony Bin was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Yakima Hops and the Minnesota Loons.
The Yakima Hops got a strong performance from pitcher Mal Houser, who stymied the Minnesota offense en route to a 5-2 win at Loony Bin. Houser, now 3-3, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 4, and allowing 2 earned runs. Reynaldo Maestas earned the save for Yakima, his 3rd of the year.
Also contributing to the win was shortstop Domingo Luna, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth for Yakima. For the game, Luna went 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Luna told the Yakima Times.
With the win over Minnesota, the Hops improved to 36-38.
