The Yakima Hops picked up a win at Ballpark of Tacoma, knocking off the Tacoma Fur Traders, 6-2. On the mound for Yakima was left-hander Roberto Silva, who played a pivotal role in the win. Silva got the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. Silva allowed no earned runs. With the victory, the Hops record now stands at 35-36.
It could have been a different outcome for Yakima, had it not been for Reginald Kalkman, the 24-year old shortstop . Kalkman contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Yakima up, 3-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Kalkman said after the game.
