Fur Traders Walk Off with Win
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders beat the Yakima Hops, 9-8, at Ballpark of Tacoma. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Iván Rodríguez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Jeff Pearce picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Reynaldo Maestas was tagged with the loss. The 5th-place Fur Traders have won 5 consecutive games.
Michael Whorton was the walk-off hero for Tacoma. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Tacoma left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This game had a little bit of everything," said Whorton.
