The Asheville Highlanders outlasted the Salem Misfits in an extra-inning thriller.
The Asheville Highlanders beat the Salem Misfits, 4-3, in 11 innings. Asheville left fielder Alejandro Castillo merited player of the game honors with his performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Highlanders, at 29-40, sit in 9th place in the Premier AA.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 11th inning. With two out, Edward Woodstock hit a 0-1 changeup from Elmer García for a solo home run. It put Asheville in front, 4-3.
