Screaming Eagles Sneak Past Fur Traders, 4-3
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders got a sterling performance from pitcher Juan Rivas, but the Screaming Eagles still prevailed, 4-3. Rivas was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner was Mercer Island reliever Ricardo Gómez, now 3-0. The loser was Brooks Dempsey. Picking up the save was Bastiăo Shwerin, his 2nd.
Marcos Reyes's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a fastball from Brooks Dempsey for a 2-run home run. It put Mercer Island in front, 4-2.
"It was a good effort all around," said Reyes.
The Screaming Eagles, at 36-25, lead by one game in their division.
