With left fielder Alex Rucker leading the charge, the Minnesota Loons defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 10-3, at Asheville Park. Rucker was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Minnesota is 7th in the Premier AA with a record of 26-30.

When the Loons needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Rucker who delivered. Facing Asheville pitcher Elend Venture the top of the third with a runner on 1st, Rucker hit his 3rd home run of the year. It made the score 3-0.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Sandy Hampton said.
