Screaming Eagles Suffer 2-1 Setback
Asheville Highlanders starter Ipe Talboom turned in a sterling performance against the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. Talboom went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-1. At 18-19, the Highlanders find themselves in 5th place in the Premier AA.

It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Miguel Montoya, the speedster . Montoya contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Asheville up, 2-0.

In postgame comments to the Asheville Gazette, Montoya said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
