Little Caesars Hot N Readys starter Leif Mayer pitched a strong game against the Minnesota Loons at The Pizza Oven, leading the Hot N Readys to a 5-4 win. The winning pitcher was Mayer, now 1-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. Little Caesars is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 7th in 19 games.

Also contributing to the win was first baseman Steve Hilburn, who stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth for Little Caesars. For the game, Hilburn was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Minnesota manager Sandy Hampton.
