Martínez Propels Asheville to 4-3 Win
|
The Asheville Highlanders picked up a win at Ballpark of Tacoma, knocking off the Tacoma Fur Traders, 4-3. On the mound for Asheville was right-hander Romano Martínez, who played a pivotal role in the win. The save went to Ipe Talboom, his 1st this season. The Highlanders have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 1st win in 3 games.
Martínez, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited performance. The hurler struck out 7 in 6 innings and gave up no earned runs. Martínez raised his record to 1-0 on the year with 8 strikeouts.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Martínez.
