In a close game at Smoke Ballpark, the Atlanta Smoke edged the Richardson City Thundercats, 5-4. Atlanta third baseman Bartolo Morales earned the nod as player of the game after he was 2 for 4 with 2 triples, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Atlanta reliever Ricardo Gómez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Dave Reed absorbed the loss. With the win over Richardson City, the Smoke improved to 50-40.
Gabriel Maldonado broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh with a run-scoring ground out. It put the Smoke in front, 5-4. For the game, Maldonado was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI.
