Great Lakers Win at Athletic Club KC, 4-2
|
The Pure Michigan Great Lakers got a stellar performance from pitcher Martín Flores, who handcuffed the Athletic Club KC offense en route to a 4-2 win at KC Reserve Stadium. Flores was the winning pitcher and moves to 5-5. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Ciríaco Muro notched his 8th save in 13 chances.
Coro, Venezuela-born António Boccanegra came through in the clutch. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd and the Great Lakers trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run home run to right-center to put Pure Michigan on top.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Boccanegra told the Pure Michigan Daily News.
Pure Michigan is in 4th place in the Premier AAA with a record of 43-39.
