The D.C. Divided and Detroit Renaissance provided some drama at Washington Stadium.

D.C. had no answer for Detroit Renaissance starter Cris Mendoza, who flummoxed Divided hitters as the Renaissance cruised to a 6-1 victory. Mendoza was the winning pitcher and moves to 5-8. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks.

Zaraza, Venezuela-born Bartolo Benítez came through in the clutch. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded and the Renaissance trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Detroit on top.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth.

The Renaissance are now 42-47, while the Divided fall to 43-46.
