The Hawks took Provo pitcher Alejandro García's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Mango Yard. The final score was 6-3. García went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Bartolo García earned the win for Highwood. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Artie Best earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
In the top of the 7th, second baseman Raleigh Delaney gave Highwood the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Hawks had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off Provo pitcher Alejandro García changed that -- and Highwood went on to win.
Delaney told the Highwood Herald: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The Highwood Hawks, now 3-0, have hit the ground running this season.
