Smith Leads Grasshoppers to Win
|
The San Bernardino Grasshoppers stopped the Glendale Herons, 10-7, at Field of the Grasshoppers. The Grasshoppers got a big game from Parker Smith, who went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Glen Holland got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Héctor Valentín, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 30th save.
Pablo Alyala aided the San Bernardino cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate.
"I don't care about style points," Alyala said. "I only care about winning."
The last-place Grasshoppers raised their record to 41-60.
