Myrtle Beach beat Richland at Rails Ballpark, eking out a 5-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Gordon Fry, who earned player of the game honors. The 4th-place Mermen improved to 48-41.

Avery Little's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Roberto Guillén for a run-scoring single. It put Myrtle Beach in front, 3-2.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Junior Benítez.
