Rails Go Down to Defeat, 8-3
|
Westwood played host to Richland at the friendly confines of Sixshooters Stadium.
The Westwood Sixshooters defeated the Richland Rails, 8-3, at Sixshooters Stadium. Westwood second baseman Orlando López was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1-2 with 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Roberto Covas was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.
López had a game-changing single in the bottom of the second. On a 2-1 fastball from Maxwell Simon, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Sixshooters a 2-0 lead. It was the 33rd hit of the year for López.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said López.
At 39-41, the Sixshooters are currently 8th in the Menard's AA.
