The exploits of first baseman Gianpaolo Monachino helped the Atlantic City Sonics defeat the Myrtle Beach Mermen, 8-1. Monachino went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Sonics move to 44-36 with the win, while the Mermen drop to 43-37.

The fans who came in support of the Sonics were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at Sonics Ballpark.

"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Atlantic City Sonics manager Yoshifumi Kamuta.
