Oaks Cut Down Patriots, 7-1
|
The Oakland Oaks picked up a win at Dunkin Donuts Park, knocking off the Boston Patriots, 7-1. Starting pitcher José García played a key role in the triumph. In 7.2 innings, García surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. With the win, the Oaks have a record of 37-41.
Jorge Vargas dealt the Patriots a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Oakland leading 1-0, Vargas, who is tied for 8th in the PL in home runs with 14, hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring double.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
