The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Ottawa fans at Nationals Park.

The Richland Rails were defeated, 6-2, by the Ottawa Nationals. Leading the charge for Ottawa was right fielder Eduardo Morales. He went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 4 runs. Dave Wheeler earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 2 earned runs on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.

Dave Wheeler recorded a big out in the top of the sixth. Richland was trailing 4-2. With two out and the bases loaded, Wheeler retired Trent Burch when Burch flied out.
