Thompkins Dazzles in Atlantic City Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Atlantic City Sonics and the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, pitcher Elroy Thompkins was at the top of his game. The Atlantic City right-hander was named the player of the game in Atlantic City's 1-0 win. Apollo Cepeda earned the save for Atlantic City, his 11th of the year. Atlantic City currently is in 4th place in the Menard's AA at 31-26.
Thompkins, a native of Surprise, Arizona, was dealing all game. He kept Ft. Polk South hitters off-balance, while giving the Sonics 8 quality innings. Thompkins threw 110 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Thompkins.
