The Richland Rails defeated the San Bernardino Grasshoppers, 7-1, at Rails Ballpark. Richland third baseman Armando Peña was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Richland is 27-29 and San Bernardino, with the loss, 21-35.
When the Rails needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Peña who delivered. Facing San Bernardino pitcher Manny Merico the bottom of the first with the bases loaded, Peña hit his 1st home run of the year. It made the score 5-0.
