Jelarde Lifts Deuces to 13-4 Triumph
The Virginia Beach Deuces stopped the San Bernardino Grasshoppers, 13-4, at Field of the Grasshoppers. The Deuces got a big game from Luis Jelarde, who went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jesús López got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. In the top of the 8th, pinch hitter Oscar Stephens gave Virginia Beach the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Deuces had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out double off San Bernardino pitcher Harvey Richards changed that -- and Virginia Beach went on to win.
