The bats were silent much of the day at The Igloo. But Víctor Fortis conjured up just enough offense to carry the Polar Bears past the Glendale Herons, 3-0. Fortis went 1 for 3 with a home run. Rafael Avelar got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4.2 innings. Jim Unknown earned the save, his 1st, for the Polar Bears.

Billings grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Fortis, who is tied for 2nd in the 3AA in triples with 3, hit a solo home run. His 4th home run put the Polar Bears out in front, 1-0.

Fortis said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.

Today's win puts Billings at 22-20, while Glendale falls to 18-24.
