Manny Merico never let the Ottawa Nationals find their groove. Throughout the game, Merico, who is tied for 8th in the 3AA in strikeouts with 39, relied on his bread and butter, his cutter, in pitching the Grasshoppers to a win. The winning pitcher was Merico, now 2-3. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Getting the save was Héctor Valentín, his 10th.
Also producing for San Bernardino was right fielder William O'Keefe, who stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. For the game, O'Keefe went 1-3 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI.
