Fans who gathered at Tennille Grounds saw a good contest between the Myrtle Beach Mermen and Glendale Herons.

The Myrtle Beach Mermen did just enough to sneak past the Glendale Herons, 2-0, at Tennille Grounds. Myrtle Beach pitcher Gordon Fry earned player of the game honors. The winning pitcher was Fry, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Francisco Gonsáles earned the save for Myrtle Beach, his 1st.

Pancho Núñez, who is tied for 8th in the 3AA in stolen bases with 8, aided the Myrtle Beach cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Núñez.

Today's win puts Myrtle Beach at 20-17, while Glendale falls to 15-22.
