Rails Beat Grasshoppers, 8-3
|
Jorge Greenbaum left his imprint on the 8-3 Richland win against the San Bernardino Grasshoppers. Greenbaum, the 29 overall pick in the 2023 draft, went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Maxwell Simon got the win, improving to 5-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. The Rails raised their record to 17-18.
Tied up with the Grasshoppers in the top of the seventh, the Rails got a boost from second baseman Jasper Otto. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Otto saw a 1-1 fastball from Arturo Villa and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Richland on top, 4-2.
"Glad to get this win," said Otto. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
