Deuces Topple Grasshoppers with Late Rally
Virginia Beach Deuces starter Gabriel Herrera was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the San Bernardino Grasshoppers, 6-5. Virginia Beach reliever Aurelio Ornelas was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Héctor Valentín took the loss for San Bernardino. The Virginia Beach Deuces, now 12-3, have had a terrific start to the season.

In the bottom of the ninth, with no one out and the game tied, 5-5, first baseman Luis Jelarde won it for Virginia Beach. With the bases empty, Jelarde hit a 0-1 fastball from Héctor Valentín for a solo home run, giving his team a 6-5 win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Herrera said in his postgame press conference.
