Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Atlantic City Sonics got the win.

Atlantic City starter Elroy Thompkins pitched effectively against the Westwood Sixshooters at Sixshooters Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Thompkins was the winning pitcher and moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 4 walks.

It could have been a different outcome for Atlantic City, had it not been for José Rodríguez, the 20-year old center fielder . Rodríguez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Atlantic City up, 1-0.

"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Thompkins.

The loss drops Westwood to 8-6.
