Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Mermen
|
The Myrtle Beach Mermen did just enough to sneak past the Westwood Sixshooters, 8-4, at Sixshooters Stadium. Myrtle Beach pitcher Héctor Ocampo earned player of the game honors. Myrtle Beach reliever Kenny Ryan was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Tyrique McGhee took the loss for Westwood. The win gives Myrtle Beach a record of 5-7.
Myrtle Beach took the lead in the top of the eighth. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, Jay Hood stroked a run-scoring double to make it 4-3, Mermen.
"It's a mindset," said Ocampo. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
