|
The Nuggets grabbed a 6-4 win at Nuggets Park, overcoming a fine effort from Portland pitcher Leroy Picot. Picot went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Jorge Garza nailed down his 22nd save. The Evergreens, at 34-73, have lost 12 straight games.
In the bottom of the 8th, pinch hitter Juan Ríos gave Rocky Mountain the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Nuggets had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out double off Portland pitcher Robert Anderson changed that -- and Rocky Mountain went on to win.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Ríos, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
