Loss Extends Portland Losing Streak
|
Rocky Mountain played host to Portland at the friendly confines of Nuggets Park.
Rocky Mountain beat Portland at Nuggets Park, escaping with a 7-3 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Luis Ríos, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Omar Casteneda earned the win for Rocky Mountain. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0.
Ríos came through with some timely hitting for Rocky Mountain. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the second and one down, Ríos hit a 1-1 changeup for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season -- and a big reason the Nuggets managed to win.
"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Portland skipper Imran Baig.
Portland, at 34-72, has lost 11 straight.
